Most locksmith websites will not put a number on a page. Ours is the whole page. These are real ranges, they are the same at 3am on Christmas Day as at 2pm on a Tuesday, and the figure you are told on the phone is the figure on the invoice.

Why a range and not one number

Because a euro cylinder on a standard uPVC door and a euro cylinder on a fire-rated flat door in a block with a concierge are not the same twenty minutes. The range covers the parts and the awkwardness. You get one fixed number on the phone before we set off, and that is the number you pay.

What we never charge for

That last one is real. If your keypad is dead because the batteries are flat, or your locks already meet your insurer's spec, we will tell you on the phone and you will not pay us anything.

Questions people actually ask

What should I expect to pay a locksmith in Manchester in 2026?

The honest ranges are on this page in full, but as a guide: a lock service is £25 to £45, a euro cylinder £35 to £60, a mortice service £40 to £70, a uPVC gearbox £60 to £120, and a lockout opened without damage £65 to £110. Prices on this page were last reviewed in July 2026 and they are the same figures we quote on the phone. If you are being quoted a call-out fee plus an hourly rate rather than a total, you are not comparing like with like.

Why do you give a price range instead of one number?

Because a euro cylinder on a standard uPVC front door and the same cylinder on a fire-rated flat door in a block with a concierge are genuinely not the same twenty minutes. The range covers the parts and the awkwardness. What you get is one fixed number on the phone before we set off, based on what you have told us, and that is the number you pay. The range is what is published; the quote is specific.

Do you charge more at night, weekends or Christmas?

No. There is no night rate, no weekend rate, no bank holiday rate and no call-out fee. A 3am Sunday call in Rochdale is priced exactly like a 2pm Tuesday call in the city centre, including Christmas Day. What changes overnight is the response time, and often it is faster because the M60 is empty. If a locksmith quotes you a day rate and a night rate, ask which one applies before they set off.

What is not included in these prices?

Nothing is hidden, but two things are worth saying. First, parts we have to source specially, an unusual gearbox or a specific insurer-mandated lock, are quoted separately before we order them rather than added afterwards. Second, if you ask for extra work once we are on site, that gets its own quote before it happens. Everything else, the call-out, the quote, the labour, the common parts on the van and the 12-month warranty, is in the number you were given on the phone.

Is it cheaper to repair a lock or replace it?

Repair, almost always, and it is usually what the lock actually needs. A lock service is £25 to £45 against £85 to £140 for a replacement. A mortice that has seized is normally full of a century of dust rather than broken, and a strip and clean at £40 to £70 gives you back a lock built better than most modern ones. We try the repair first. Replacement is genuinely needed when the body is cracked, when a cylinder has been snapped or drilled, or when your insurer requires a standard your lock does not meet.
