Questions people actually ask
What locksmith services do you offer in Manchester?
Emergency work: lockouts, broken key extraction, lost keys, burglary repair and safe opening, 24 hours across all ten Greater Manchester boroughs. Everyday work: lock repair, lock changes, key cutting, door repair, window locks, garage locks and security upgrades. Specialist work: eviction attendance, insurance work, master key systems, access control, roller shutter locks, mailbox locks and fire exit hardware. What we do not do is car keys, bike locks, or hanging new doors, and we will point you somewhere better for those.
What's the cheapest job you do?
Cutting a standard house key at £8 to £15, and even then, if all you need is a straight copy of a normal key, a kiosk will do it for about three pounds and we would rather you did that. After that it is a lock service at £25 to £45, which is the single most useful thing most people could have done and almost nobody does. It cleans, lubricates and realigns a lock that is heading for failure, and it costs less than a takeaway.
How do I know which service I need?
Describe the symptom rather than guessing the cause, because the two are often different. A door that will not close is usually alignment, not a lock. A handle that needs lifting hard is the gearbox, not the handle. A key that will not turn might be the cylinder or might be the door having dropped. Ring us and describe what is actually happening, and we will tell you what it is and what it costs before we set off, or tell you that you do not need us at all.
Do you charge to tell me whether I need you?
No, and that is not a slogan. If your safe keypad is dead because the batteries behind it are flat, we will tell you on the phone and you will spend two pounds instead of ninety. If your locks already meet your insurer's spec, we will tell you that rather than inventing an upgrade. If your uPVC door needs a joiner rather than a locksmith, we will say so. There is no charge for any of that and no call-out fee if you decide at the door that you would rather not go ahead.
